The Rule establishes science-based minimum standards for the safe growing, harvesting, packing, and holding of all fruits and vegetables grown for human consumption. The FDA has been discussing the increased water requirements of The Rule and has proposed an additional 2-4 years extension on compliance dates. If this proposed modification is passed, the first compliance dates for water requirements will be in 2020.
